Product Overview

The SparkFun BME688 Environmental Sensor is a breakout that combines a gas sensor with temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure sensing in a single package. The BME688's gas sensor can detect a wide variety of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs), and other gases such as carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the part-per-billion (ppb) range. Combine that with precise temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure, and the BME688 can work as a completely standalone environmental sensor all in a 1in. x 1in. breakout!

Solderless Environmental Tracking

The BME688 serves as a drop-in replacement for the BME680 and builds on the previous sensor by adding intelligent gas-scanning capabilities. While standard sensors simply detect the presence of gases, this Bosch sensor generates unique profiles for different gas mixtures. Because we routed the default I²C interface to our solderless Qwiic connectors, integrating this powerhouse sensor into your existing setup is incredibly fast and error-free. If you prefer a traditional breadboard layout or need the versatility of SPI communication, all essential pins are conveniently broken out to standard 0.1-inch spaced headers.
